UPDATE: Murder Suspect Arrested In DeBary Woman's Death

This evening, detectives with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office charged 45-year-old Anton Lamar Sanders (DOB 12/10/1971) with first-degree murder in the death of Lisa Bresie.

Sanders, Bresie's ex-boyfriend, was with Bresie's vehicle and had the keys on him when FHP troopers responded to a report of an impaired man showing signs of distress along Interstate 275 on Thursday. A trooper noticed blood in the vehicle. Sanders' clothing was later confirmed to have blood on it. While troopers and medical personnel were on scene, Sanders tried to throw himself over a wall that separated the highway from the water below. He was transported to a hospital in St. Petersburg.

Bresie was found dead in her home on Lantana Drive on Sunday afternoon after concerned family members asked VCSO deputies to check on her. The 51-year-old woman had suffered multiple stab wounds, and there were large amounts of blood in the home. VCSO crime scene technicians discovered a fingerprint left in blood inside the house. On Monday, the fingerprint came back as a match to Sanders, who was already being interviewed by VCSO detectives.

Sanders was taken into custody and held without bond tonight in the Pinellas County Jail.

DEBARY WOMAN’S DEATH UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of a 51-year-old woman who was found dead in her DeBary home on Sunday.

Deputies discovered Lisa Bresie on Sunday afternoon when they went to her home on Lantana Drive to conduct a well-being check. She was found deceased when deputies entered the home using a key provided by a family member.

Earlier Sunday, a deputy had responded to the same house (71 Lantana Drive) in response to an attempt-to-contact request from the Florida Highway Patrol, which had located Bresie’s vehicle in Pinellas County in the early-morning hours Thursday. When the deputy went to Bresie’s home Sunday morning, he was unable to make contact with anyone after several attempts.

At this point in the investigation, detectives do not believe Bresie’s death was the result of a random act of violence. Major Case detectives are actively investigating this case and interviewing multiple people who may have information. No additional information is available at this time but will be provided as the investigation allows.
