UPDATE: 11/16/2018

Following a months-long investigation by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit, a grand jury has indicted a 34-year-old former Deltona woman in the fatal stabbing of her husband in April.

Latoya Woodard (DOB 1/7/1984), of Port Orange, was indicted Thursday afternoon on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Edwin Lee Daniels. Woodard was taken into custody Thursday evening at her home in Port Orange and transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where she is being held without bond today.

Major Case detectives believe Woodard stabbed Daniels multiple times with a kitchen knife on the night of April 13 at the couple’s home at 1201 Howland Blvd., Deltona. Woodard told detectives she was sleeping in the master bedroom when Daniels was murdered, and that he must have been killed by an intruder in the house. The bed in the master bedroom was made and undisturbed, and as the investigation progressed, other evidence and details emerged that contradicted Woodard’s story.

Additional information relating to motive and other details of the investigation are not being released at this time. Prior news releases in the case are below.
