VCSO, SHERIFF CHITWOOD PARTICIPATING IN DELTONA SEMINAR ON OPIOID CRISIS
Sheriff Mike Chitwood and members of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office are joining several community partners in an effort to raise awareness and understanding of the opioid crisis and its effects on our community. Next Saturday (10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17) at Deltona City Hall, we’ll be participating in a seminar on substance abuse and recovery.
The event (C.A.R.E. – Creating Awareness and Resource Education) is expected to include an opening presentation from Sheriff Chitwood, a review of programs available from Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare, a discussion on how Emergency Medical Services uses Narcan to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses and more.
A panel discussion and audience question-and-answer session will follow, with representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, Stewart-Marchman-Act, Halifax Health and other community partners present.
