DELAND MAN, 33, SOUGHT IN SHOOTING THAT CRITICALLY INJURED MAN IN DELEON SPRINGS

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are seeking a 33-year-old DeLand man in a shooting early Saturday that left a male victim critically injured.

Dillon Larson Parker, 33 (DOB 10/15/1985) a transient in DeLand, fled after confronting the victim just after 5 a.m. Saturday. Deputies responded to a report of someone shot at 5195 West Ave., DeLeon Springs, at about 5:08 a.m. The victim, identified as Daniel Dekmar, 33 (DOB 7/20/1985) was transported by EVAC ambulance to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene told deputies the victim and shooter argued in the driveway at the residence. Then the shooter was observed shooting at the victim as he ran toward the home. The shooter immediately fled.  Parker was positively identified as the shooter, who is known to the victim. This was not a random incident.

Parker faces charges of attempted murder, felony battery and aggravated battery with a firearm. Parker is described as a white male, 6’4”-6’6” tall, weighing 270-280 pounds.
