VCSO Investigates Reported Armed Carjacking; Victim Unhurt

A Lake Helen woman reported she was the victim of an armed carjacking Wednesday night in the 1200 block of South State Road 15A in DeLand.

The victim told detectives a vehicle pulled up beside hers in the parking lot just before 10 p.m. as she sat in her driver’s seat. A male suspect reportedly opened her door, pointed a gun at her and demanded that she get out of the car, a 2010 Lexus. The suspect got into the driver’s seat and drove away from the scene.

The victim was not injured in the incident.

Shortly after 1 a.m., the Lexus was located in Seminole County and towed to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office evidence facility.

This investigation is ongoing.  More information will be provided when it becomes available.
