EDGEWATER MAN, 37, ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

VCSO Investigation Finds Suspect Has 236 Videos, Photos

A 37-year-old Edgewater resident was arrested Friday and charged with 30 counts of possessing child pornography.

Christopher Skowronski, 37, (DOB 5/10/1981) of 400 Sea Gull Ct., Edgewater, was arrested at his home by Edgewater police.  He is charged with possessing photos and videos depicting sexual performance of a child.

Detectives found 236 electronic images and videos in the defendant’s possession. The images portrayed girls between less than a year to 9 years old in sexually explicit situations.

Detectives with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Child Exploitation Unit began investigating Skowronski in November 2018. On Jan. 10, 2019, the VCSO and the ICE-Brevard-Volusia Child Exploitation Task Force executed a search warrant at his home. Electronic devices were seized for forensic examination and detectives interviewed Skowronski.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday. Skowronski was taken into custody Friday afternoon and transported to the Volusia County Branch jail, where he remains held on $300,000 bail.

More charges are possible as detectives search for any additional potential victims of sexual exploitation. Anyone who may have been a victim of this suspect or any similar case is urged to call the Child Exploitation Unit at (386) 323-3574.
