2 Pierson men killed in car vs. train crash

Date Added: July 03, 2025 9:06 am

Two brothers passed away last night in a crash between a vehicle vs. train around 9:14 p.m. in Pierson.

The men, a 32-year-old and his passenger, a 20-year-old male, both from Pierson, were traveling in a four-door Chevrolet eastbound on W. Washington Avenue from County Road 3.

Investigators determined the vehicle approached the railroad and drove around the railroad barrier/arm bars. Both arm bars and the lights were active and working.

As the vehicle attempted to cross the railroad, a train heading north hit the vehicle. The driver and passenger were both pronounced deceased on scene. The next of kin has been notified.

The Volusia Sheriff’s Office sends our condolences to the family following this tragedy.
