ARRESTED: Taylor Taft, 29, Deltona, has been identified as the shooter in a road-rage incident this morning on SR 415.
No one was injured in the shooting, reported around 8 a.m. on SR 415 in the Osteen area. The victim told deputies a white Honda Civic cut him off, then started brake-checking and swerving in front of him.
The victim said the Civic driver pulled out a black Glock handgun and pointed it at him. As the victim accelerated to create distance, he heard a loud pop and realized his rear tire was losing pressure. The Civic then turned off 415 and left the area, and the victim pulled over down the road to report the incident.
Crime analysts at the Volusia County Crime Center identified a white Honda Civic that was in the area of the shooting at the time, and deputies went to the registered address. There, they interviewed Taft, who acknowledged the road rage incident but denied the shooting.
Crime scene units located a round hole in the victim's rear tire with bullet spalling fragments visible.
After obtaining a search warrant, detectives recovered a Glock 48 handgun and loaded 10-round magazine from Taft's bedroom.
Taft is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He was being held with no bond Tuesday afternoon at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
