DEPUTIES SEARCHING FOR WOMAN WHO ESCAPED CUSTODY IN SEVILLE

A 43-year-old woman is the subject of a search by Volusia County sheriff’s deputies tonight in Seville after she managed to escape from a patrol car after being arrested on warrants for multiple burglaries.

Amie Tyson, 43 (DOB 11/21/76) and Thomas Walton, 50 (DOB 6/25/1968) were being arrested tonight on burglary warrants from Volusia and Putnam counties just after 5 p.m. in the 1800 block of Barton Street in Seville. Each had been secured and handcuffed in separate patrol vehicles. Tyson managed to slip out of her handcuffs, escape the patrol car and take off running. Walton was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail without incident.

Tyson is described as a white female with brown hair, 5 feet tall, wearing a black tank top, jeans and no shoes. The sheriff’s Air 1 helicopter and bloodhounds are being used to search for Tyson.

A Code Red telephone message was sent out to about 121 residents within a 2-mile radius of Barton St. notifying them that Tyson had escaped arrest in Seville and to be on the lookout for her. Anyone who knows her whereabouts is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at 386-943-8276.
