SIX ARRESTED IN UNDERCOVER DRUG STING

“I’ll take care of you,” the street dealer promised right before pulling out $40 worth of crack cocaine in an open, hand-to-hand drug deal transacted Wednesday afternoon through the passenger window of a vehicle. Actually, as the dealer would find out moments later while being put in handcuffs, it was the other way around, as undercover drug agents were busy taking care of business and cleaning up the streets on the south part of DeLand due to complaints of drug sales in the area. Led by officers with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the DeLand and Daytona Beach police departments, Wednesday’s undercover narcotics operation resulted in six arrests.

Narcotics agents with both the multi-agency West Volusia Narcotics Task Force and the Sheriff'’s Office’s Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team hit the streets Wednesday afternoon in the first part of the operation, called a buy-bust because undercover agents pose as customers, buy drugs from street dealers and then bust the dealers. Once the dealers were cleared out and taken to jail, the undercover agents switched roles and posed as street dealers. But what they were actually selling was an artificial substance made to look like crack cocaine. One defendant was hauled off to jail after buying $4 worth of fake crack cocaine from an undercover officer -- and placing a home delivery order for another $100 worth of the drug for the next day.

The six defendants and their charges and initial bond amounts are as follows:

• Shane Bailey, 21 (DOB: 5/31/95), DeLand
  Charges: Sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting an officer without violence. Bond: $10,500
• Wilfredo Rivera, 48 (DOB: 4/2/68), Deltona
  Charges: Attempted purchase of a controlled substance. Bond: $2,500
• Debra Santoriello, 48 (DOB: 9/15/68), DeLand
  Charges: Attempted purchase of crack cocaine. Bond: $2,500
• Marco Selph, 33 (DOB: 1/17/83), DeLand
  Charges: Sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute 
  Bond: $7,500
• Derrick Trice, 39 (DOB: 5/30/77), transient
  Charges: Sale of a schedule II substance within 1,000 feet of a park. Bond: $5,000
• Lorenzo Williams, 21 (DOB: 1/21/95), DeLand
  Charges: Sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a park, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of narcotics paraphernalia. Bond: $4,500
