ORANGE CITY E-CIG STORE ROBBED

A search is on for a lone gunman who held up an electronic cigarette store near Orange City Friday afternoon. No shots were fired and no one was injured in the robbery, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the E-Cig Source on North Volusia Avenue.

There was one employee and no customers in the business when the suspect burst into the store, pointed a gun at the employee and demanded money. The suspect made off with cash from the business’ money drawer before bolting out of the store and then driving away from the scene. Dispatched to the scene at 3:53 p.m., Volusia County Sheriff’s patrol and K-9 units are mounting a search for the suspect vehicle, while investigators are busy processing the scene for clues. A Sheriff’s Office helicopter and Orange City police are assisting with the search.

The suspect was described as an older white man approximately 5’6” tall with an average build. He was wearing khaki pants, a dark-colored, zip-up hoodie, a grey undershirt, glasses and a baseball hat and also concealed his face with a rag. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 943-8276 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Information also can be submitted by downloading the smartphone app from the Crime Stoppers web site (http://www.westopcrime.com/).
