SHERIFF CHITWOOD TO MEET WITH FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY, LAW ENFORCEMENT LEADERS THIS AFTERNOON IN JACKSONVILLE

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood will be meeting with FBI Director James Comey and other public safety leaders this afternoon in Jacksonville to discuss issues facing American law enforcement and ideas on making communities like Volusia County safer.

The invitation-only meeting is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. at the FBI’s Jacksonville Division. While the meeting is not open to the public, Sheriff Chitwood will be available for interviews later today to answer any questions about what was discussed.

Today’s event is the second recent meeting the sheriff has attended with a national figure to discuss the future of law enforcement. On Monday, he met in Janesville, Wisconsin, with U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan and law enforcement officials from across the country who have been working with the non-profit research organization Police Executive Research Forum.
