DEPUTES TO HOST COFFEE WITH A COP WEDNESDAY IN OSTEEN

There won’t be any agenda or speeches: Just an opportunity for residents to ask questions, voice concerns and get to the know the Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies in their neighborhood. It’s Coffee With A Cop, and it’s coming to Osteen this Wednesday (March 1, 2017).

Part of a national initiative, the Coffee With A Cop program is designed to maintain open lines of communication with the community and foster a greater understanding between the citizens and police. For law enforcement, it’s a way to connect with the community in an informal setting, answer questions and concerns and hear first-hand from residents about public safety issues. And for the public, it’s an opportunity to meet face-to-face with law enforcement officers and discuss ways to work together to make a difference and help keep the community safe. The Sheriff’s Office has hosted more than 20 Coffee With A Cop events throughout the county. Another one is scheduled later next month in DeBary.

Wednesday’s event will take place from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at the Osteen Diner, 195 S.R. 415. More information can be obtained by contacting either Lieutenant Richard Fortin or Lieutenant Lou Marino at (386) 860-7030.
