5 Arrested In Undercover Prostitution Enforcement Operation

5 ARRESTED IN BACKPAGE.COM PROSTITUTION ENFORCEMENT OPERATION

They didn’t use their real names, preferring to go by nicknames like Soul Snatcher and Porsche. But that’s alright, since the customers who hooked up with prostitutes on Thursday through an on-line advertising site didn’t use their real names either. That’s because they were undercover Volusia County Sheriff’s detectives.

Thursday’s undercover operation, which targeted prostitutes who advertise in the escort section of the web site backpage.com, resulted in the arrest of three women along with two men charged as accomplices for driving women to the meeting location knowing they were planning to engage in a sex-of-money escapade. Thursday’s prostitution enforcement operation was led by Sheriff’s detectives in the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force. They were assisted by several other Sheriff’s Office units along with the East Volusia Narcotics Task Force, which is a multi-agency task force comprised of detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the Ormond Beach, South Daytona and New Smyrna Beach police departments. Once the appointment was made with the women, they were instructed to meet what they thought were customers at a local hotel. But the “customers” were actually undercover detectives. As soon as the sex-for-money deal was negotiated, the women were arrested. In one case, a defendant’s cousin drove her to the hotel because she had promised to pay him $40. Another man drove one of the women to the hotel because she owed him money.

The defendants and their charges are as follows:

• Jason Bobbitt, age 33 (DOB: 8/1/83), Oklahoma. Charged with deriving support or proceeds from prostitution.
• Desiree Hansen, age 22 (DOB: 12/11/94), DeLand. Charged with offer to commit prostitution/lewd act.
• Milton Oglesby, age 54 (DOB: 1/11/63), Orange City. Charged with deriving support or proceeds from prostitution, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana under 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.
• Tiffany Perez, age 38 (DOB: 11/10/78), Ormond Beach. Charged with prostitution, offer to commit prostitution/lewd act and possession of marijuana under 20 grams.
• Jennifer Tucker, age 42 (DOB: 11/17/74), Port Orange. Charged with offer to commit prostitution/lewd act and possession of a schedule II substance.
