UPDATED: 'Scumbags Of The Week' Located In North Carolina

Update: Matthew Hall, who fled the traffic stop that led to the arrests of Albert Blackburn II and Mary Hall, was also taken into custody Saturday, 8/5, by the St. Pauls, N.C., Police Department. He is being held on $25,000 bail. In addition to his Volusia County charges of dealing in stolen property, he is facing a charge of resisting arrest without violence in North Carolina.

‘SCUMBAGS OF THE WEEK’ LOCATED IN NORTH CAROLINA; ONE FLEES

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood’s latest “SCUMBAGS of the Week” were located three states away Friday, just a day after their mugshots were posted online in an attempt to track them down.

Acting on an anonymous tip submitted in response to Thursday’s VCSO Facebook post about Matthew Hall and Albert Blackburn II, Detective Cameron Tucker contacted authorities in Robeson County, N.C., asking them to see if they could be found in that area.

Thanks to the quick work of Robeson deputies and the St. Pauls, N.C., Police Department, it wasn’t long before police in St. Pauls stopped Hall, Blackburn and third suspect Mary Hall in the Toyota Corolla stolen from their victims in Volusia County.

All three are suspects in an elderly exploitation case in DeBary, where an 81-year-old woman and her 91-year-old husband were victimized and intimidated to the point that they were unable to buy medication or pay their bills. Mary Hall is the victims’ granddaughter and is accused of stealing their car. In addition to their role in the exploitation case, Matthew Hall and Albert Blackburn were also wanted on charges in an additional burglary/dealing in stolen property case in the same DeBary neighborhood.

The trio was riding in the stolen Corolla when police conducted a traffic stop on them in North Carolina. Matthew Hall took off running and is still being sought. Blackburn was arrested on his outstanding Volusia County warrant and Mary Hall was charged with auto theft as she was in possession of a stolen vehicle.

The case remains active, and additional charges are pending. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, St. Pauls Police Department and every person who submits a tip or clicks ‘share’ on the VCSO’s SCUMBAGS of the Week.
