Date Added: February 10, 2018 6:00 pm

UPDATE, FEB. 22: A suspect has been taken into custody in South Carolina on charges of attempted murder and armed carjacking in a shooting that injured a Deltona man earlier this month.

Peter Neville Bamfield, 19 (DOB 12/20/1998) was arrested in Darlington, S.C., on Wednesday evening thanks to cooperation between Volusia County Sheriff’s Office detectives and members of U.S. Marshals Task Force members in Central Florida and in South Carolina.

The shooting occurred the afternoon of Feb. 10 on the 2300 block of Dumas Drive in Deltona, where multiple witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a dark Honda passenger car speed away from the scene. After he was shot, the victim, 28-year-old Tarell Williams of Deltona, ran to seek help from residents in the area, and responding deputies found him lying wounded on a driveway with an area homeowner trying to help him.

Deputies were able to identify the vehicle involved, and it was later found abandoned elsewhere in Deltona. Detectives determined Williams was driving the car when the shooter pointed a handgun at him from the front passenger seat and began shooting as Williams tried to escape.

Although there was no suspect name given, detectives developed Bamfield as a suspect through descriptions and witness interviews.

Bamfield was transported to the Darlington County Jail pending extradition to Volusia County to face his charges.
