Two Confirmed Dead In Daytona Beach-Area Plane Crash

Update, 4:50 p.m.: The Sheriff’s Office has tentatively identified the two people killed in this morning’s fatal plane crash. While the families of those parties have been notified of this information, the identities of the deceased are not being publicly announced by VCSO until positive identification is officially made. The crash investigation will be handled by federal authorities and no further updates or additional details beyond those previously released are anticipated for release from our agency at this time.

TWO CONFIRMED DEAD IN DAYTONA BEACH-AREA PLANE CRASH

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash of a small plane this morning off Tomoka Farms Road, Daytona Beach, near the Daytona Flea & Farmers Market. Two occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

The crash was reported by witnesses who saw the plane go down around 9:54 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office notified the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration of the crash, and authorities were en route to initiate an investigation of the circumstances.

Information identifying the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
