Deltona Pair Arrested After Man's Stolen Tools Are For Sale on Social Media

DETECTIVES ARREST DELTONA COUPLE AFTER VICTIM’S STOLEN TOOLS POSTED FOR SALE ONLINE

A Deltona couple has been arrested and charged after a victim reported thousands of dollars’ worth of tools and truck parts stolen from his work truck – and then spotted his property for sale on social media.

The victim, Andrew Koerner, reported that he had left a workbox on the back of his truck unlocked Friday night. Sometime overnight Saturday, someone had stolen numerous items. Most of the tools belonged to him, but a box with truck parts and some tools, valued at $600, belonged to his employer, Ring Power Corp. of St. Augustine. The victim discovered the burglary Saturday morning when he saw doors to the work box were ajar and that multiple items were missing. That’s when he reported the theft to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
 
On Sunday afternoon, deputies were called after Koerner found property for sale on two different social media sites that he believes was stolen from his work truck. Detectives tracked down the couple using investigative means and once the victim confirmed seeing his stolen property online, a detective made an offer on one of the items being offered for sale.
 
One of the defendants, Ian Way, 27 (DOB: 10/23/90), proposed meeting at the Circle K store at Howland and Elkcam boulevards in Deltona. Eventually he was arrested at the Racetrac gas station. Detectives found the victim’s air hammer in his vehicle that the detective had negotiated to buy. Way of 2994 Greynolds St. was charged with burglary of a conveyance and grand theft under $5,000.
 
Detectives then went to Way’s home to recover the rest of the stolen property. That’s where they found his girlfriend, Jessica Ryan, 30 (DOB: 02/02/88). Ryan had also posted the stolen items online and was attempting to sell them. She confirmed a tool box was inside the home but she didn’t allow detectives to search. She denied knowing about the stolen property. Detectives arrested Ryan and charged her with dealing in stolen property. Both remain in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
 
The investigation is continuing as detectives executed a search warrant at the home, where they recovered multiple stolen property items and prescription narcotics. Detectives are still investigating the stolen items and are trying to identify the owners. Additional cases of stolen property may be involved.
