ORANGE CITY MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING GIRLFRIEND IN ANKLE

An Orange City man is in jail today on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after Volusia County sheriff’s detectives determined he shot his girlfriend in the ankle after a domestic argument on Sunday.

Deputies arrested Robert Pugh, 34 (DOB 11/26/1983) Sunday afternoon after his girlfriend showed up at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City with a gunshot injury.

She was shot around 11:30 a.m. after an argument at the couple’s home at 2005 N. Sparkman Ave., Orange City. The victim said she and Pugh had been arguing all morning when she went outside and heard gunshots and was hit just above the right ankle. She said Pugh gave her a cup of water and a belt to use as a tourniquet, at her request. Then he dropped her off at the hospital.

Pugh was being held without bond Monday at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
