MAN SHOT, INJURED AFTER ARGUMENT IN DAYTONA BEACH AREA

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting in the Daytona Beach area that injured a man Friday night.

The shooting was reported around 11:11 p.m. in the area of 10th Street and Vine Street. The victim, 24-year-old Daniel Madsen of Palm Coast, was lying on the ground near the corner of Old Kings Road and David Drive nearby. He was later transported to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Madsen’s account of the incident changed several times, but at the hospital, he told a detective he was riding his bicycle when a vehicle pulled alongside him and the driver asked him about a tattoo Madsen owed him. Madsen said he got into the vehicle and an argument began about the owed tattoo. He said when he got out of the vehicle, the driver followed him and shot him.

Madsen ran to a nearby house for help after he was shot.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation is active and no additional details are available for release at this time.
