DELTONA RACETRAC STATION ROBBED BY 2 SUSPECTS

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a Deltona Racetrac station overnight.

Deputies responded to the Racetrac at 407 Deltona Blvd. around 1:10 a.m. Friday and spoke with witnesses who said two suspects robbed the store, one armed with a handgun.

One employee said one of the suspects pointed the gun at her head and demanded all the money in the register. She said at some point during the incident, she was struck in the back of the head with the firearm, but she didn’t sustain any injuries. No one else was injured in the robbery, either.

Another employee and two customers were in the store at the time of the robbery. One of the customers explained he came out of the restroom while the robbery was happening, and one of the suspects pointed a gun at him. Both customers were told to lay down on the floor while the suspects robbed the store.

One suspect was a heavy-set black male wearing a red tank top, gray pants and a mask. He arrived driving a black Cadillac Escalade (Florida tag EEPI07) that was reported stolen in an armed carjacking in Leesburg. The second suspect was a thin black male wearing a gray track suit and a mask, and he arrived at the store in the passenger side of a red Hyundai Elantra (Florida tag KQQN91) that was reported stolen in an armed carjacking in Orange County.

The investigation is active and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS, via the Crime Stoppers P3 mobile app or on the web athttp://www.northeastflorida.crimestoppersweb.com/. Tips can be submitted anonymously and a cash reward is possible.
