VCSO INVESTIGATING OVERNIGHT SHOOTING ON I-4

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that injured a man driving on Interstate 4 overnight.

Around 1:36 a.m., deputies were dispatched to mile marker 109 westbound Interstate 4 for a person shot. The victim said he was driving westbound on I-4 when he approached another car. He said he followed it because it was going fast. Eventually, the driver of the other car drove next to him for a short distance then shot an unknown firearm out the window striking the victim's vehicle several times.

One round struck the victim in the upper thigh, breaking his femur. The victim was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford for treatment and was listed in stable condition.

The shooting investigation remains active and no other records or information (report, 911 audio, suspect vehicle description, etc.) are available for release at this time.
