VCSO SEEKS SUSPECTS IN HOME BURGLARY
DeBary Incident May Be Linked to Golf Course Vandals

A DeBary resident returning from vacation recently discovered his home had been burglarized, with numerous electronics and jewelry items stolen.

The burglary, which occurred in DeBary Golf and Country Club subdivision, was reported one day after security officers reported $5,000 worth of damage done to the golf course green. Detectives believe the cases may be linked.

The burglary occurred sometime between June 10-13 in the subdivision, 300 Plantation Club Drive. When the victim returned home June 13, he found the front door unlocked and a decorative glass window shattered. Inside, the victim found several electronics and jewelry missing. The value of items stolen is estimated to be more than $10,000.

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives are also investigating vandalism done to the golf course, which occurred around the corner from the location of the burglary. Early June 12, maintenance staff found deep tire marks and holes in circles on the green and fairway, indicating a vehicle had been recklessly driving on the course doing “donuts.”

Suspects may be the same in both cases.
