Deputies Arrest 2 Sanford Teens, Deltona 19-Year-Old in Early Morning Car Breaks

VCSO ARRESTS 2 JUVENILES, ADULT IN EARLY MORNING DELTONA CAR BREAKS

Two Sanford teenagers and a 19-year-old Deltona woman were arrested early today after Volusia County sheriff’s deputies caught them following a string of car break-ins in a Deltona neighborhood.

Arrested were: 

• Willie King, 17 (DOB 9/7/2001), Sanford
• Roger Livingston, 16 (DOB 10/3/2002), Sanford
• Jada McDonald, 19, (DOB 1/6/2000), Deltona

Deputies were alerted just before 2 a.m. today by a resident who was outside smoking a cigarette in the 200 block of Fargren Avenue, Deltona. The resident spotted three people wearing hooded sweatshirts by a parked car at a neighbor’s home. The resident heard a door handle being manipulated and saw the vehicle’s interior light turn on.

That’s when the three realized they were observed and fled down Fargren Avenue.

Deputies set up a perimeter in the area and found McDonald, who said she lived in the area and was walking to a convenience store to get a drink. She denied any involvement in the car burglary and was released while a search continued for the two juvenile suspects, who were spotted but took off running from another deputy. Deputies soon tracked all three to McDonald’s home on Gramercy Drive – 10 blocks away from the area of the car breaks. All three were taken into custody.

As deputies searched, their investigation led them to an abandoned blue 4-door Hyundai that was stolen from Sanford. It turned out to be owned by the mother of King and is believed to have been used to commit the car breaks. Deputies located several pieces of stolen property, along with clothes matching those worn by the suspects as they fled from law enforcement.

At least four vehicles were burglarized; however, just one owner wished to press charges. 

King and Livingston were charged with burglary of a conveyance, a felony, and resisting an officer without violence, and were released to the custody of their parents.

McDonald was charged with burglary of a conveyance and contributing to the delinquency/dependency of a minor. She is being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $6,500 bail.
