DRUGS, LOADED WEAPONS FOUND IN DAYTONA MOTEL ROOM WITH CHILDREN PRESENT; SUSPECT ARRESTED

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives investigating narcotics activity at a Days Inn in Daytona Beach arrested a suspect on drug, weapons and child neglect charges and discovered a variety of drugs, guns and cash in his motel room.

On Wednesday, members of the East Volusia Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant in a room at the Days Inn, 2904 W. International Speedway Blvd. Inside room 145, detectives found five firearms (two of which were stolen), 136 grams of MDPV, 3.6 grams of MDMA, 2.5 grams of cocaine, 0.3 grams of heroin and about a gram of an unknown white powder. They also found pills including Hydromorphone, Clonzepan, Morphine, Oxycodone and Buprenorphine, along with 2 scales with cocaine and MDPV residue, and $3,577 cash.

Three of the guns were loaded, and three children were present in the room. Detectives noted the drugs and unsecured loaded weapons were easily within the reach of a child.

The suspect, 37-year-old Richard Boston (DOB 6/13/1982), was charged with armed trafficking in MDPV, rental of a structure for the purpose of narcotics trafficking, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of MDMA with intent to sell, three counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics, possession of Schedule III narcotics, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, grand theft firearm, child neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Another adult at the motel was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear on a domestic battery charge.

Boston was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he was being held Thursday morning on bond totaling $258,000.
