BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DEBARY
LPR Hit Leads VCSO Deputies to Ayotte, Wanted in 4 Robberies Since May

A Tampa-area resident suspected of robbing a bank in Deltona on July 30 and linked to three other Central Florida bank robberies since May, was captured early today in West Volusia after his vehicle tag was captured by a License Plate Reader (LPR).

Jesse Ayotte, 37, (DOB 3/25/1982) of Land-o’-Lakes, was taken into custody this morning at the Hampton Inn on Sunrise Boulevard in DeBary. Volusia County sheriff’s deputies tracked him down after the vehicle tag hit an LPR in West Volusia shortly before 8 a.m.

Less than 15 minutes later, Ayotte was in custody and arrested on his warrants out of Volusia County and Orange County. He will be transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

In addition to last week’s Deltona strong-arm robbery, Ayotte was sought for two robberies by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (May 30, attempted robbery; July 3, robbery) and one by the Orlando Police Department for a July 20, robbery.

On July 30, Volusia County sheriff’s deputies were called to the Fifth Third bank at 2730 Elkcam Blvd., Deltona, at 4:57 p.m. where bank employees said a white male, 5’7” to 5’10” tall wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts, a distinctive white hat, glasses and a fanny pack robbed the bank. The suspect handed the teller a handwritten note telling her to give him all the money she had and implied he had a weapon. The teller became fearful and complied with the demands. The man took the money and walked out of the bank.

During the investigation, VCSO detectives learned  of the incidents in Orange County and Orlando, and that Ayotte was a suspect. Upon comparing video surveillance from the Deltona robbery to Orange County’s photos, detectives determined Ayotte is the same suspect in all the robberies.
