BOND REVOKED FOR TEENAGER CHARGED IN FEBRUARY SHOOTING IN OAK HILL

James Powell, 16, charged with attempted murder in the Feb. 17 shooting of a man in Oak Hill, is back in custody after a judge revoked his bond.

Powell was granted $60,000 bond in April. He was not allowed on the campus of New Smyrna Beach High School. However, on Aug. 15, he arrived on campus with several other individuals who are not students at NSB High. The group was seen on campus during an after-school football practice, following some type of confrontation involving a player earlier that day. Powell was charged with trespassing on school grounds.

On Thursday, a judge revoked Powell’s bond. Powell turned himself in last night at the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he remains in custody today with no bond allowed.

Powell and a co-defendant were arrested in the Feb. 17 shooting of Joel Tatro, who was paralyzed as a result of his injuries. Tatro was shot during a confrontation with the suspects after they arrived at a party on Tatro's property.
