3 Killed In DeLand-Area Plane Crash

Update: The identities of the deceased in yesterday’s plane crash are:

Armand Girouard, 27 (DOB 12/28/1991), DeLand (pilot)

Ernendro Philippe, 32 (DOB 8/14/1987), Kissimmee

Shawna Carbonaro, 34 (DOB 3/1/1985), DeLand

3 KILLED IN DELAND-AREA PLANE CRASH

Three people were killed today when a small plane crashed and caught fire in the DeLand area.

The crash was reported around 4 p.m. in a wooded area off State Road 44 and Grand Avenue. Units responding to the crash site in the woods discovered 3 people with no pulse.

The plane is a Cessna 421.

Several witnesses in the area reported seeing the plane go down.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the crash, and traffic on S.R. 44 was shut down between Grand Avenue and Old New York Avenue.

For any news media traveling to the scene, the media staging area is the gas station off the roundabout at S.R. 44 and Grand Avenue.

Any additional information, including the names of the occupants of the plane, will be provided following positive identification and notification of next of kin.
