CHILD ABUSE SUSPECT ARRESTED AGAIN, CHARGED WITH POURING BOILING WATER ON 3-YEAR-OLD

A Deltona man arrested on charges of burning a 3-year-old girl in 2018 has been arrested again on charges he poured boiling water on a different child, a 3-year-old boy.

Terry May, 47 (DOB 3/23/1972), was taken into custody this morning after a judge issued a warrant last week on a charge of child abuse causing great bodily harm.

A deputy first responded to this latest child abuse call on Sept. 27, after the victim’s daycare instructors noticed a burn mark on the child’s back. The investigation revealed May poured boiling water onto the child after the child accidentally urinated on the floor.

May’s previous child abuse charge in 2018 in DeLand (see the prior news release below) was ultimately not prosecuted, with a ‘no information’ filed in August 2018.

May’s bond on his current charge was set at $250,000.
