The shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. on the 900 block of Gayle Drive, where the victims reported several shots were fired at their truck from a passing car. No one was injured in the shooting, which followed an earlier verbal confrontation at Gator’s Dockside DeLand.

The suspects were identified through surveillance camera video footage.

The other suspects in the car have been identified as Jake Ross (19, DOB 11/27/1999, suspected shooter), Delvaughn Robinson (19, DOB 4/13/2000) and Charles Montgomery (18, DOB 3/9/2001). Robinson and Montgomery are facing the same charges as Alexander. Ross is facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Deputies are actively attempting to locate the outstanding suspects, who are urged to turn themselves in.

Also arrested, charged with providing false information to law enforcement: A 17-year-old male student from DeLand who was interviewed by detectives the morning after the shooting and denied knowing those involved. However, he was a teammate of Alexander’s on the DeLand High School football team and was close friends with Ross, Robinson and Montgomery, and he was present with the group at Gator’s Dockside on the evening of the incident.

Alexander and the 17-year-old charged with providing false information were arrested Wednesday afternoon at DeLand High School. The additional arrests and other charges are anticipated in the near future.
