VSO DRUG RAID NETS 3 ARRESTS IN DELEON SPRINGS
Meth, Prescription Drugs Among Items Seized

Volusia sheriff’s deputies and detectives executed a narcotics search warrant in DeLeon Springs on Tuesday, rounding up three suspects along with methamphetamine oil and meth, assorted other narcotics and a firearm in our continuing effort to rid neighborhoods of dangerous people and illegal drugs.

Early Tuesday, members of the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force, Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team, patrol and VSO SWAT set out with search and arrest warrants at 5195 West Ave., DeLeon Springs.

Arrested and transported to the Volusia Branch Jail were:

--Ashley Phillips, 40, (DOB 05-18-1979), charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hydromorphone, possession of alprazolam and sale and delivery of hydromorphone within 1,000 feet of a park. She has been released from jail.

-- Rory M. Gamberg, 30 (DOB 06-23-1989), charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammo by a convicted felon and misdemeanor warrant  for violation of probation: possession of drug paraphernalia. He remains at the Branch Jail on $10,223 bail.

--  Garrett Puckett, 30 (DOB 09-22-1989), charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation. He is held on no bail allowed.

During Tuesday’s search, detectives located 156 grams of suspected methamphetamine oil, 3 grams of methamphetamine, 11 hydromorphone prescription pills, 10 alprazolam (Xanax) tablets, a rifle and ammunition, and various drug paraphernalia.

This week’s raid comes two weeks after the announcement of a larger operation involving the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, Volusia Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Florida Attorney General’s Office, in which a methamphetamine and pill distribution organization that was being led from a prison cell in Georgia was dismantled. That organization was believed to be responsible for distributing more than 200 pounds of crystal meth in Volusia County over the past year alone. VBI and the FBI launched that multi-jurisdictional investigation in December 2018, resulting in nearly 40 arrest warrants and four search warrants, 27 arrests and more expected.

Tuesday’s arrests were not part of the larger drug operation, but they are a signal to the community that we will continue to put drug dealers behind bars and work to eliminate illegal narcotics activity in our neighborhoods.
