TRAIN ACCIDENT KILLS OAK HILL MAN, 37

A 37-year-old man was killed Monday in a tragic accident after he was hit by a train while lying on the tracks near West Brooks Circle in Oak Hill.

The victim, identified as Kenneth Hutchinson of West Loop, apparently did not realize a Florida East Coast Railway locomotive was nearing until the last minute when he tried to exit the tracks just before 9:30 a.m.

The train’s conductor told deputies he saw the man lying on the tracks about 200 yards south of the railway intersection with West Brooks Circle. As the conductor hit the brakes and sounded the horn, he saw the victim try to stand and move off the tracks but he didn’t make it off in time.

The victim’s family was notified.
