Body of Man, 21, Found in Burning Car

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a homicide after a body was found early Thursday in a burning car, and later identified as Jarius Cook, 21 (DOB 04/28/1998).  

Deputies were called to the scene of the burning vehicle in the 900 block of South Delaware Avenue in DeLand at 2:36 a.m. Thursday. Cook’s body was discovered in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished.

This is an active criminal investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Major Case Unit at (386) 254-1537. The Sheriff's Office is offering a $15,000 reward to the person who comes forward with information that leads to a conviction in this case.
