Driver deceased after Deltona crash

A Deltona woman passed away in a traffic crash Thursday on Courtland Boulevard, where her car veered off the road and struck a parked vehicle.

Deputies responded to the crash on the 2700 block of Courtland around 1:27 p.m. Thursday. Deputies and EMS began life-saving measures on the 68-year-old female driver prior to her transport to the emergency room, but sadly she was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after 2 p.m.

A witness to the crash reported she was driving behind the victim's vehicle when she saw the driver slump over and start veering off the road. The witness honked her horn several times as a warning to no avail before the crash.

The victim was wearing her seatbelt and had no visible signs of trauma from the crash. The Sheriff's Office sends sincere condolences to her family for their loss.
