On Friday evening, VSO detectives responded to Halifax Hospital in Deltona for a death investigation. The deceased was a 39-year-old Lake Helen woman who was reported to have been electrocuted in an accident at her home.

The initial information gathered in the investigation indicates the woman and her husband were working in their barn during heavy rain. Her husband heard her cry out and turned to find her holding onto a metal drum fan while seemingly being electrocuted. The husband kicked the fan away and performed CPR until emergency medical units arrived on scene.

Detectives noted puddles of water in the barn and a power cable to the fan that was tattered and worn. The death investigation continues to be active, and the medical examiner will determine an official cause of death following an autopsy.
