***DOMESTIC VIOLENCE / CBA***

Deputies responded to the LOI reference D1 allegedly being armed with a firearm while walking up and down the street.  Deputies subsequently observed D1 at the front door of the LOI (which is his residence) unarmed. Deputies attempted to talk with D1 on two (2) occasions; however, D1 would always retreat back inside of the home. D1 came outside of the home a third time (still unarmed) and sat down on the front steps. As deputies approached, D1 again fled back inside of the home; however, deputies did attempt to deploy a taser on D1 but were unsuccessful. Deputies learned that also inside of the residence was D1's live-in girlfriend (V1). Deputies were able to contact V1 (via her cell phone) and she told LEOs she was going to exit the home and convince D1 to do the same. D1 was heard in the background saying he was not going to let V1 leave and the phone call abruptly ended. Given the totality of the situation, a multitude of VSO resources (i.e., SWAT and Hostage Negotiators) responded to the LOI to aid in the investigation. D1's mother showed up, was able to talk to him (D1) and he eventually came outside and was taken into custody without incident. In all, no one was hurt and D1 was arrested for all applicable charges. There was no evidence found linking D1 to a firearm. V1 was also arrested on an open warrant.

D1- Preston Meier, W/M, 05/27/1995; 1300 Hand Ave #A24, Ormond Beach
