D1 and W1 are having marital problems and W1 is concerned for her and her children's safety due to D1's increasingly manic episodes. Today, D1 was served with a notice of hearing in reference to a petition for an injunction which upset him. W1 was on the phone with V1 who overheard a verbal disturbance. V1 responded to the residence and contacted law enforcement for assistance. Deputies were standing by while W1 collected items for her and her kids from the residence to leave. V1 was walking down the driveway with one of the small children when D1 chased her down and began trying to get the child from her. Deputies responded to D1's actions after witnessing D1 batter V1. D1 actively resisted the deputies' efforts to secure him in handcuffs. D1 also began reaching for items on the deputies' duty belts, attempted to break their grasp of the handcuffs, and bite at them. D1 was safely taken into custody suffering minor abrasions sustained from D1's resistance on the gravel driveway. The deputies did not sustain any injuries from the incident. V1 completed a sworn statement detailing she wanted to pursue charges. W1 provided a statement detailing her observations. D1 was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical clearance before being taken to jail. Case Status: CBA.
