Deputies responded to Bill Keller Park regarding juveniles damaging playground canopies. Witnesses reported juveniles climbing on the playground structure and blue canopies, causing holes. Upon arrival, Deputies observed the juveniles on the playset. D1 and D2 fled upon seeing law enforcement. Both were located near the tree line, detained, and read Miranda rights. Post-Miranda, both admitted climbing on the canopy but denied causing damage. Deputies observed two medium-sized holes on separate canopies, estimated damage at $12,000, and confirmed the City of Debary wished to pursue charges. Both 13-year-olds were arrested for criminal mischief and obstruction, and transported to the Volusia Family Resource Center. Parents and Director Quann were notified.
