***707's COMPLETED / 1 FILED WITH THE SAO***
T/L- 06/05/2026 @ 1935 hours. V1 advised that two unknown suspects (which would later be positively identified) stole some packages they (V1) had received from Amazon (total value of the stolen items being approximately $52.75). Further investigation revealed the packages were dropped off by Amazon and left on top of a lock box (located nearby the roadway and outside of the front gate which serves as the entrance to the driveway of the home). Via video surveillance from the LOI, at 1935 hours, two (2) people riding a motorcycle are observed stopping in front of the lock box, with the passenger getting off the bike, stealing V1's packages, and then both parties using the motorcycle to flee the scene. The video was collected to aid in the investigation which resulted in the positive identification of both S1 and S2. Both subjects have had prior LEO contact which have resulted in arrests. It is known that there are some areas around the LOI which have been hang outs for the types of people S1 and S2 are. While looking for S1 and S2, deputies were able to contact witnesses who stated the couple came to one of their homes (with V1's Amazon packages) and were disappointed when the boxes were opened and not of any significant value. S1 and S2 left the stolen goods behind, and deputies collected them as evidence. V1 was advised of the recovered items and they in turn told deputies they had already contacted Amazon about the incident. A CH of S1 revealed that he (S1) had enough prior theft convictions to make this event a felony (S2's CH resulted in her not qualifying for the enhancement). 707's on both S1 and S2 were completed, with S1's possibly being evaluated for a potential arrest warrant and S2's having to be filed with the SAO for review.

T/L- 03/18/2026 to present. V1, who is 78 years old, met a female named “Alyssa” on WhatsApp. “Alyssa” said she was a financial investor (primarily in cryptocurrency) and convinced V1 to start investing money into the medium. From 03/18/2026 to 05/01/2026, V1 deposited approximately $55,915.00 into a Coinbase account. “Alyssa” then convinced V1 to transfer all those funds into a crypto account via the website “Hamiltoning.com.” V1 stated “Hamiltoning.com” has now frozen all the money. V1 contacted the website who told him (V1) that he would need to deposit the same amount already in the account (i.e., $55,915.00) to get it unfrozen (which thankfully it looks like he did not do). The VSO Financial Crimes Unit was advised of the event and will be conducting the follow up.

***SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT***
T/L- 06/03/2026 @ 2100 hours. R1 waited a day to tell LEOs about an event which allegedly occurred on 06/03. R1, who has known to be a transient and has a history of LEO contact (to include being Baker Acted) claims that on 06/03, she was invited to the LOI by the homeowner (who was not on scene at the time of the event). R1 stated they (R1) were sitting on a couch when O1 (who is the homeowner's nephew) arrived on scene and entered the residence. R1 claims that O1 began acting erratically (like they were possibly on drugs) and alleges that they (O1) made an inappropriate sexual comment directed at her (R1). R1 also claims that O1 made sexual advances (unknown if they were more verbal comments or actual physical contact) which made R1 want to leave. R1 alleges that O1 blocked a doorway saying she (R1) was not allowed to leave while also making statements to hurt himself (O1). Somehow, R1 was able to eventually leave without any incident and did not contact LEOs because she (R1) did not want them (LEOs) to hurt O1 (which makes no sense).

***CBA***
D1 fled from several local law enforcement agencies, including Edgewater PD, New Smyrna Beach PD, Port Orange PD, and the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Port Orange PD was able to deploy stop sticks along Ridgewood Ave, which significantly slowed the suspect's vehicle. Given the threat to public safety as D1 approached a populated area, deputies were authorized to use PIT/VCT. The vehicle was ultimately stopped by a PIT maneuver conducted by VSO, after which Port Orange PD took D1 into custody. D1 now faces multiple charges of fleeing and eluding from all agencies involved in the incident.

***CASE FILED WITH THE SAO***
T/L- 06/01/2026 @ 2100 hours. S1, James Maloney, approached the store counter with an assortment of items to purchase. S1 subsequently retrieved a fake $100 bill (movie money) from their pocket and attempted to purchase the items. The store clerk recognized the money as fake and told S1 they would not accept it as payment. S1 understood and used legitimate U.S. currency to pay for the items they (S1) could afford. The store clerk kept the fake $100 bill and S1 went on their way without incident. The event was captured on video surveillance and a positive identification of S1 was made by LEOs who have had numerous LEO contacts with S1 in the past. A 707 was completed for the applicable offense; however, based upon the totality of facts and circumstances, it will only be filed with the SAO.
