Male entered the Dollar General at 107 S US Hwy 1. Oak Hill and selected a package of donuts valued at $1.50 and Laffy Taffy valued at $1.00. D1, later identified as Jonathan Moskovits, exited the store without rendering payment for the items. An anonymous citizen advised the vehicle D1 left in, which was found by law enforcement shortly after. During the traffic stop D1 was read his rights, which he understood and advised he stole the items. D1 was placed under arrest for Petit theft from a merchant and Poss. paraphernalia and transported to VCBJ.

D1 attacked V1 during an altercation which took place in D1's truck. While at D1's residence V1 tried to get away but D1 tried to push V1 back inside his vehicle. D1 was able to retrieve a firearm and threatened to kill himself. While VSO was arriving D1 fired a single shot. Deputies pushed forward towards the residence and observed D1 outside. Air One was utilized and they observed D1 on the elevated porch with a handgun in his hand. Deputies took cover behind an oak tree which provided enough cover. D1 then discharged another round from inside his apartment. Verbal dialogue was established and D1 surrendered without incident. V1 was transported to the hospital for her injuries. D1 was transported to VCBJ and an RPO was submitted.
